Petra: Lost City of Stone

‘PETRA’ is a touring exhibition showcasing 800 artifacts associated with the monumental rock carved tome-stones - the remaining legacy of the 2000 year old city in Jordan. It was designed at the American Museum of Natural History in New York, in conjunction with the Cincinnati Art Museum.

My design approach centered on placing many of the architectural fragments in a suggested context, often using distressed steel support components to resemble beams, columns and pediments. Large-scale media presentations allowed the visitor to experience the mood and grandeur of being at the renowned Petra site.

The exhibition has been scheduled to travel to numerous North American cities, including Cincinnati.
